2011 Beton Hala Waterfront
Belgrado

2011 BETON HALA WATERFRONT CENTER /  BELGRADO concurso

“Beton Hala (BH) is placed in a strategic corner of Belgrade where two different urban structures are to be found. On the south, we observe Kosancicev Venac, an old and compact block structure, and on the north, the Belgrade Fortress, with ramparts, green slopes and promenades. This scenario makes us look at BH as a new potential urban cross point forBelgrade. But how to maintain this important piece of Belgrade’s heritage undamaged? One possibility is to imagine two buildings, each one with very different purposes: one, the
Commercial Centre, acting as the last step for Kosancicev Venac and looking like a powerful stone of the city’s block structure which opens to the river. The other, the Art Gallery & Museum, a half sunk sloped building integrated in  the  landscape which links the BH upper linear terrace with the promenades of the Kalemegdan park by several roof paths.” [ver memoria]
